About Budget 2026-27

The Toronto District School Board has approved its operating budget for the 2026-2027 school year. The budget protects classroom learning, supports student achievement and has made significant progress in restoring long-term financial sustainability to the school board.

Despite approximately 5,000 fewer students anticipated in the new school year, the TDSB will be adding direct teaching support related to math and literacy and will be maintaining school-based staffing levels in Special Education and Mental Health.

As a result of targeted funding increases, the TDSB will also see increased spending on classroom resources and the operation and maintenance of buildings.

As part of the budget process, the provincial supervisor, together with senior staff, was able to reduce the projected 2026-2027 budget deficit to approximately $15 million from $74.5 million.
