Summer 2020 Toronto District School Board International Summer Program July 06 – July 31 2020

Learn English and explore Canadian culture with the Toronto District School Board this summer! 
International students, aged 12-17 will:
  • Improve their English language communication and academic skills with Canada’s largest and most diverse school board;
  • Develop their interpersonal skills while building leadership capacities with friends from all over the world;
  • Receive individualized instruction and student centered education by highly qualified TDSB teachers;
  • Discover Toronto and explore Canada’s rich history through tours, trips and social activities;
  • Experience the great Canadian outdoors through our overnight trips to TDBS Outdoor Education Centres (OEC)

Important Dates

  • Monday July 6th is the first day of the program.
  • Friday July 31st is the last day of the program.
  • Students may choose 2, 3 or 4 week packages, with multiple start dates.

Program Description

Regular Day Schedule:

  • Monday to Saturday, 9am – 4pm
  • Location: McKee Public School - 35 Church Ave, North York, ON M2N 6X6
  • Students participating in the program will receive a well-rounded education and exploration experience through whole learning interdisciplinary approach that meaningfully engages the students to develop their literacy and problem solving skills.
  • Day trips include excursions to downtown Toronto (CN Tower, The Royal Ontario Museum, University of Toronto campus tour) and outside of the city (Niagara Falls and the Outdoor Education Centres)
  • The outdoor education centres are owned and operated by the Toronto District School Board. The students will participate in outdoor and indoor educational activities such as: hiking, orienteering and survival skills to promote their leadership, confidence and interpersonal skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

  • Homestay and Transportation includes the programming, homestay and transportation between homestay and school, international health insurance coverage, airport pick up and drop off, and a non-refundable $300 CAD administration fee
  • Without homestay or daily transportation includes the programming, international health insurance, and a non-refundable $300 CAD administration fee.

Fee includes

  • The educational program and materials
  • English assessment and class instruction
  • Certificate of Study Participation
  • Access and transportation for all scheduled tours and activities
  • All activities and excursions
  • Medical and accidental insurance for the duration of the program

Fee does not include

  • Airfare or accommodation

Note: Custodianship could be assigned through Canada Homestay Network, TDSB's designated homestay provider; the TDSB does not provide custodianship services.

Methods of Payment

Fee payment is made payable to the Toronto District School Board, Continuing Education in Canadian currency by one of the following methods:

    • All notarized, fully completed required forms and payment, which includes the non-refundable administration fee of $300 CAD, are required by May 08, 2020

The Official letter of acceptance will be delayed if proof of payment (Wire Transfer Reference Sheet) is not provided.

Refund Policy

Email all refund requests to:
  • Refund amounts are based on the date that the refund request email is sent. The non-refundable administration fee of $300 CAD is deducted in all cases.
  • Program fees will be returned less $300 CAD if proof is provided by June 19, 2020 that the application for the visa was rejected by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
  • No refund if the student withdraws after June 19, 2020
  • No refund if the student violates the rules, guidelines, code of conduct and policies of the Toronto District School Board and the school, and/or the laws of Ontario and/or Canada

Application Procedure

1. Complete the following forms: All forms can be found on our website

  • Registration Form including signatures for Medical Authorization, Media Consent and Participation Agreement sections.
  • Health Information Form.
  • Homestay Form (if required) *It is the responsibility of the Guardian/Agent/Recruiter to register for Homestay through Canada Homestay Network.
  • Custodianship Declaration for Parents/Guardians - MUST BE NOTARIZED
  • Custodianship Declaration for Custodians in Canada - MUST BE NOTARIZED
  • Wire Transfer Reference Sheet

2. Provide payment. See Methods of Payment.

3. Upon receipt of all fully completed forms and full payment, an Official Letter of Acceptance will be issued. The letter can be used in the home country as proof of registration and is used to apply for visa abroad.
