The City of Toronto (the City) is responsible for determining how the city will grow and change over time. TDSB staff will continue working closely with City staff during the creation of municipal policy documents (e.g., urban design guidelines, Official Plan amendments). This will allow the TDSB to understand the impact of a changing urban environment on long-term student accommodation.
Staff will continue to emphasize that the ability of the local schools to accommodate enrolment growth on a timely basis should be considered when approving any development applications. Staff will also continue to advocate that all municipal planning documents recognize the role of schools in contributing to complete communities.
