Background:
It was announced on June 2, 2026 that Heydon Park Secondary School will be relocating to a new site. Orde Street Public School will be relocating into the Heydon Park Secondary School site due to the construction of a 60-storey mixed use development, immediately adjacent to the school’s outdoor play area, that will have a significant impact on the school’s day-to-day operations and safety of the students.
TDSB recognizes the uniqueness of the Heydon Park SS community and will do everything possible to make this as smooth a transition as possible. The intent is for students, staff and administration to relocate as a unit to a new location that can support the programs and opportunities that Heydon Park SS students require for their success.
Update on June 24:
A community information meeting was held the evening of June 17, 2026. TDSB Staff shared at this meeting the reasonings behind the decision to relocate Heydon Park SS and Orde St PS.
On June 24, 2026, a Community Information Bulletin was shared informing the community that taking into consideration the unique needs of Heydon Park students and the preference identified by many at the recent meeting, it has been determined that Heydon Park will be relocated to 529 Vaughan Road, the former Vaughan Road Academy. The building is in a central location and provides an array of amenities conducive to offering secondary school programming.
