Prevention and Intervention Programs

We take a whole school approach to promoting a safe, inclusive and accepting school climate. By working together with staff, students and community we are able to address inappropriate student behaviour and to build strategies that promote and foster positive behaviours.

Each TDSB school has a Caring, Safe and Accepting Schools Team that works to foster a safe, inclusive and positive school climate. The purpose of this team is the development, annual review and implementation of the school code of conduct, the bullying prevention and intervention plan and the progressive discipline plan.

We offer several prevention programs that support improving student attitudes and behaviours to enhance school climate and safety, such as character education, and restorative practices.

Specific intervention programs such as anger management, peer mediation and community conferencing, as well as programs involving the police, parks and recreation, and public health, are in place in many TDSB schools.

You will find programs in our schools that are operated with community partners such as, The Toronto Police Service, Future Aces, Tribes, and Second Step.
