Home Schooling

In order to home school your child, a notification of intent must be submitted to the Superintendent for your area every year that your child is being home schooled (until the age of 18). This notification must be provided in writing prior to September 1.

The TDSB does not provide a home-schooling program or supplies and materials to parents for home schooling purposes.

However, the TDSB offers multiple alternative school options, including the Alpha programs (our ‘school for home schoolers’). Alpha Alternative Junior School (K-6) and Alpha II Alternative School (7-12) offer self-directed learning models within a free schooling environment. For the complete list of alternative school options in the TDSB, please see this list.
