Toronto District School Board

The Program

There are more than 150 identified Model Schools in the TDSB. These schools are determined by the Learning Opportunities Index (LOI), and are within the seven identified inner city neighbourhoods in Toronto where large numbers of students live in poverty.

Model Schools are grouped into seven clusters. Each cluster is supported by a MSIC team including a central coordinating principal, program coordinator, two central lead teachers, two teaching learning coaches and three community support workers. Each MSIC school has at least one learning classroom teacher and an early years lead teacher who work collaboratively to improve student achievement through focused supports and opportunities.

Model Schools provide students with the tools, resources and the opportunities they need to participate fully and equally in their schools and communities.

Our Mission
To enable all students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire
the knowledge, skills, and values
they need to become responsible members of a democratic society.
