TDSB’s Climate Change Literacy & Leadership Program
Beginning in the fall of 2023, K-12 teachers in the TDSB will be offered a new way to deepen their knowledge and
practice of Climate Change Education (CCE) through a board-wide Professional Learning Community (PLC). Given the
wide-ranging and inequitable impacts of the climate crisis, CCE is critically important for teachers and students to
bring into their classrooms and communities, helping to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change, as well as
innovate ways to live in just and sustainable ways.
The TDSB’s Climate Change Literacy & Leadership Program (CLLP) uses a collaborative inquiry approach, using teachers’
interests, experiences and expertise in CCE as the starting point. It aims to support teachers’ ongoing learning as well
as deepen their skills in leading CCE learning with their students, colleagues and communities. Teachers will be
provided with release to engage in four days of professional learning throughout the 2023-24 year, working in
collaboration with other teachers, EcoSchools leaders, OISE faculty and teacher candidates. It is organized as part of
the
TDSB/OISE Professional Learning Collaboration in Environmental & Sustainability Education.
As spaces are limited, applications will be invited from teachers early in the fall of 2023, with the program beginning
in mid-November. Information about applying to the CLLP will be shared on this page as it becomes available, as well as
shared broadly through the
TDSB’s EcoSchools newsletter.
