2022 Municipal Election
The 2022 Municipal Election, including School Board Elections, will be held on October 24, 2022. Below you will find key information and resources for both voters and trustee candidates:
School Board Trustees
The Toronto District School Board consists of 22 public school board trustees, who are elected during the Municipal Election to advocate for public education and represent the interests of students, parents, guardians and school communities of the City of Toronto. With a strong focus on student achievement, well-being and equity, trustees work together to ensure students have access to the programs, supports and services they need to succeed and reach their full potential. Trustees carry-out their responsibilities in a manner that assists the TDSB in fulfilling its duties under the Education Act.
The Board of Trustees:
- Establish policies;
- Set budgets and allocate resources;
- Formulate plans and set priorities;
- Support and monitor student achievement and well-being; and
- Collaborate with all levels of government.

Key Dates
May 2, 2022 – Nomination and Registration Periods Begin
August 19, 2022 – Nomination Day, with a Deadline of 2 p.m. The last day to register as a candidate. A candidate who wishes to withdraw their nomination must notify the municipal clerk in writing before 2 p.m.
October 7 – 14, 2022 – Advance Voting Days
October 24, 2022 – Voting Day
November 15, 2022 – New Term of Office Commences
January 3, 2023 – End of the Election Campaign Period. The last day for candidates and registered third parties to provide written notice, in the prescribed form, of a deficit and the continuation of their campaign period
