Toastmasters International is a global non-profit organization developing public speaking and leadership skills through practice and feedback in local clubs since 1924. The organization also encourages public speaking in youth through their Youth Leadership Program.
Thanks to a local Toastmasters member who volunteered her time, I was able to offer the program for high school students in my ward this past fall. With the program being such a great success, we have decided to host it again for a brand new set of students.
The program will be presented in 8 sessions, held every Thursday evening between 6pm and 8pm, beginning on March 23rd, 2017 and ending on May 11th, 2017. Each session usually lasts about 2 hours. Meetings will be taking place at Earl Haig SS Library.
Applications are open to any students from Grade 9 -12, who attend school or live in Willowdale. Students are able to participate for free, but space is limited. Participants will have a chance to submit their applications until Friday, March 10th, 2017, and once all applications are in, a lottery process will take place to choose the 25 students accepted into the program.
For more information, I have attached the information sheet below, as well as the application form. Any questions about the program, or completed applications forms can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
