The TDSB EcoSchools program, in collaboration with OISE's Sustainability & Climate Action Network (SCAN), host FREE online and in-person professional learning events from September to June each year to support teachers’ professional learning in Climate Change Education. A wide range of topics related to environmental learning and Climate Change Education are on offer to educators and staff from the TDSB, other school boards, community organizations, and members of the public. Many online events are recorded and shared on the TDSB EcoSchools YouTube channel.

Beyond the lunchbox: Food as Climate Education

How can we use food to help students explore climate change, environmental sustainability, and the systems that shape our everyday lives? Join Michael Classens from the University of Toronto and practicing K-12 educators from the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) to explore how food literacy, food justice, and growing food can create meaningful opportunities for learning. Using examples from schools and community contexts, we’ll consider how educators can connect food to curriculum to deepen students’ understanding of the relationships between food, people, and the planet.

Highlighting the Youth Climate Action Grants

The Youth Climate Action Grants provides funding to TDSB student-led projects, activities and events that:
- educate and engage students, families and/or community members on climate actions
- help Toronto achieve its GHG emissions reduction goals by 2030
- align with the TransformTO Net Zero Strategy for net-zero emissions by 2040
Grant funding up to $1,000 is available. This funding program is a partnership between the City and the Toronto District School Board.
This webinar will highlight 3 past projects at our schools, with the participants sharing their experience of the process, and the challenges and successes they had.
Tara Mabon from the City, who manages the program, will be there to explain the application process and answer questions. Join us to get ideas and learn how your students can get money and support for their own climate action!
