1. ICAC Fees and Fundraising Sub-committee (FFS)

This sub-committee was struck in June 2010 in response to the Ministry of Education's review of the policy guidelines on student fees. The ICAC invited the Ministry representatives to attend the December 2010 ICAC meeting to receive feedback. The group presented the followingStudent Activity Fees to the Ministry representatives. The sub-committee continues to meet regularly and is currently working on a response through ICAC to the Ministry's consultation on school council fundraising. ICAC FFS Update June 10, 2011

On Tuesday June 7, 2011, the ICAC FFS hosted the Ministry of Education, parents, students, community members, principals, teachers and trustees for an interesting and informative discussion on the issue of school council fundraising. The ICAC FFS prepared the following presentation for discussion, as well as requesting that it be widely circulated throughout the TDSB. (Please note that you will need ADOBE software to access the presentation) Congratulations to the ICAC FFS for all their hard work in putting together such an amazing consultation!
Note: Individual recommendations regarding fundraising can be sent to the Ministry until November 1st, 2011 at:fundraising@ontario.ca

Also, please find here of the Ministry of Education’s draft fundraising policy guidelines, as well as an email where individual submissions on the draft can be made:Fundraising@ontario.ca (by November 1st, 2011).

Also, please take a minute to read the feedback on fundraising given by PIAC (Parent Involvement Advisory Committee) in their Committee Report dated March 2010.


2. ICAC Acheivement Gap Work Group (AGWG)

The ICAC Achievement Gap Work Group (AGWG) is composed of ICAC members and community members who are passionately interested in exploring the issue of the “achievement gap” in greater depth. Working from theTDSB Draft Achievement Gap Task Force Report, and other background documents (for example, the Equity Policy Community Advisory Committee’s Critique of the TDSB Task Force Report)this group has met three times and will continue to provide feedback through ICAC to encourage ongoing, rich discussions with our communities about this issue.
