Free English classes for immigrants and permanent residents new to Canada in Toronto

Notice:

The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada Program is open in September 2021 and plans to deliver in-person learning by October 2021, pending developments in the Covid-19 pandemic. Please scroll down to fill out the form or contact one of our regional offices.

If you are:

  • an immigrant
  • convention refugee
  • a new permanent resident

you can take free English classes in Toronto through Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC). LINC is like English as a Second Language (ESL) class, but we provide childcare onsite at our schools.

The LINC program is the largest provider of free English classes in Canada. We have twelve classroom locations in Toronto, so you can choose the location closest to you!

What you can expect from LINC

  • Part-time and full-time classes are available year-round.
  • Some locations offer evening and weekend classes.
  • We offer classes in different language levels – from beginner to high-intermediate.
  • All locations provide Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) for kids aged 19 months to 6 years old. Parents can attend classes while we mind your children.
  • All locations are accessible by TTC. In some cases, some learners can even qualify for public transportation assistance.

Watch the video below. Listen to what our learners have to say about the LINC program.

Is LINC right for you?

This program is right for you if you are:

  • a landed immigrant (not a Canadian citizen or visitor)
  • or a convention refugee (not a refugee claimant)
  • are 18 years old or older
