Secondary Out-of-Area Admissions

Choose one Out-of-Area school, one Secondary School Without a Boundary, or both. If you choose both, the order matters.

Your secondary school choices

One Out-of-Area school

Choose a school outside your designated attendance area where OOA applications are accepted.

One SSWAB school

Choose one of the five Secondary Schools Without a Boundary.

Both

Choose one OOA school and one SSWAB school. Rank them as your first and second choices.

First choice matters: First choice applicants are seated before applicants who list that school as their second choice. If seated in their first choice school, applicants will not be considered for their second choice school.


Before you apply

Offers and waitlists

Results are sent by email. Offers must be accepted online before the specified deadline or the seat is forfeited.

Secondary waitlists have up to three offer rounds.

    Check your results email. Accept online by the deadline in your offer.

    Check for a new offer and its acceptance deadline.

    Final round. Accept before the offer expires.

    Waitlist closes
    Waitlists expire at the end of the final offer rounds. No further placements follow.

Open the unique results link in your email, then choose Accept or Decline and confirm your decision. The pictures below are source examples of the controls; use the deadline in your current offer.

Decline or accept a seat

An offered seat has Accept and Decline controls.

If you applied to both OOA and SSWAB

First choice applicants are seated before applicants who list that school as their second choice.

If seated at your first choice, you are not considered for your second choice. If waitlisted for your first choice, you may receive a seat or waitlist placement at your second choice.

Before you rank: A later first choice offer removes your second choice seat so it can be offered to another student. That change cannot be reversed. You must accept the new offer before its deadline.

If you want to leave your first choice waitlist, request removal through the support route on the main Out-of-Area page.

Specialized Programs and Secondary OOA

These are separate application processes. You may apply to both, but you can ultimately keep only one placement. If you accept a different seat, notify CPAO that you are releasing the other seat; current TDSB students should also notify their school.

Accepting an OOA seat does not remove you from a Specialized Program waitlist. If you later accept a Specialized Program offer, release your OOA seat.


Students new to TDSB

Once you accept an offer, complete the registration package sent through your unique email link. Contact the requested school to arrange a documentation appointment and course selections.

September 2027 registration: Packages begin in mid-February 2027. Complete registration before noon on March 12, 2027.

Current TDSB students receive school support with their transfer and course selections.

Other programs accessed through Out-of-Area Admissions
