Explore another elementary school while keeping your child’s designated school option. Admission depends on the school’s status and available space.

Before you apply

  • Your child retains the right to attend the school designated for your home address, subject to any entrance restriction.
  • You may select one Out-of-Area school where applications are accepted.
  • TDSB does not provide transportation for Out-of-Area students.
  • Check the school’s status and feeder-priority information before making your choice.

Students applying for Junior Kindergarten should also register at their designated school while waiting for the result. If an Out-of-Area offer is accepted, notify the designated school.

Child Care and Before- and After-School Programs

Child Care access has specific conditions. Ask the school and operator to confirm your child’s arrangement.

Preschool Child Care to Junior Kindergarten

Out-of-area children enrolled in a school-based preschool Child Care program by the end of December in the year before entering Junior Kindergarten, who continue into the school’s Before- and After-School Program (BASP) in the fall, may attend Junior Kindergarten at that school without an Out-of-Area application.

Late preschool Child Care registration does not guarantee automatic Junior Kindergarten admission. Child Care enrolment does not guarantee entry into an Intensive French Language program.

Leaving BASP before completing Grade 3

A student who withdraws from a school-based BASP before completing Grade 3 may finish the current school year. To remain for the following year, the student must successfully apply through the standard Out-of-Area Admissions process, where space is available, or return to their designated school.

Leaving because of age limits or operator policy changes

Students required to leave Child Care because of age limits or Child Care operator policy changes may complete the school’s full grade range.

Moving to the next school level

Child Care access does not give automatic access to the next-level school. A standard Out-of-Area application is required to attend a next-level school outside your child’s designated attendance area, where space permits.

Offers and results

Results are sent by email. Offers must be accepted online before the specified deadline or the seat is forfeited.

Students new to TDSB

After accepting an offer, complete the registration form sent through your unique email link and arrange a registration appointment with the requested school. Check your junk and spam folders if you cannot find the email.

Current TDSB students do not complete this new-student registration form. Your school can support the next steps.

French Immersion: French Immersion may be accessed through Out-of-Area Admissions.

Remote Learning: Virtual Elementary School is accessed through Secondary Out-of-Area Admissions.
