Child Care - 0 to 4 Years

In alignment with P.022 Early Learning & Care Policy  the TDSB supports more than 200 independently operated, fee-based child cares in our schools with programs for children from birth to age four, though ages served varies by location.

For our youngest learners, child care is often their first introduction to a school environment and can support the transition to Kindergarten. Programs offer early learning opportunities, designed to promote gross and fine motor skills and language, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Programs are licensed by the Ministry of Education under the Child Care and Early Years Act and are regulated by Toronto Children’s Services and Public Health.

Children with special needs can access child care and appropriate supports in their neighbourhood. Families looking for an early childhood program or developmental supports for their child with special needs can visit the CITYKIDS website or call 416-920-6543.

Families accessing a fee subsidy through the City of Toronto will be able to apply this at most school-based child cares. For more information about fee subsidies, please visit the City of Toronto website or call 311.
