Celebrating Good News – Read about some of the recent events, initiatives and great things happening across the Toronto District School Board, including:

Greek Heritage Month - The TDSB is proud to recognize Greek Heritage Month every March, which is a significant month for the Hellenic community. The theme for 2025 is: Odyssey - A Decade of Celebrating Greek Heritage Month. Several educational activities have been planned to help students, staff, and families mark the occasion. Learn more.


Excellence Awards 2025 Nominations The TDSB Excellence Awards share stories of extraordinary staff commitment. We want to know about the TDSB staff who are supporting the success and wellbeing of students, and school and work communities. Nominations welcome from anyone! Submit nominations by April 4.


Black Mental Health Week: March 3 to 7 - The Black Mental Health 2025 resources provides TDSB and community resources, activities, and videos to uplift and sustain Black mental well-being—every day. Parents, caregivers, students (Gr. 7-12) and community members are invited to join us for a virtual session, Joy as Resistance, with Trey Anthony on March 6.

 

Reminder: Mid-Winter Break – Mark your calendars for Mid-Winter Break from March 10 to 14. There will be no classes during this week.

News and Highlights from the Math Achievement Action Plan – The TDSB has developed a Math Achievement Action Plan to coordinate improvement efforts in mathematics teaching, learning, and achievement across the district. Learn more.

Special Education and Inclusion Video Series: Guides for Parents/Caregivers – From learning about Individual Education Plans to navigating the Identification, Placement, and Review Committee process, these videos were designed to help families understand the Special Education programs, services, and supports available to students. Learn more.

 

Learning Opportunities Index (LOI) Public Policy Consultations – Join TDSB Trustees and staff for a public consultation session on the draft LOI Policy. Learn about the LOI and how it is used to support schools. Visit the policy consultations web page to RSVP and share your thoughts on the draft Policy by March 24.

 

2025-26 Student Trustees Election Thousands of TDSB students in grades 7 to 11 voted in the Student Trustees Election. Congratulations to Ahnaaf Hassan, a Grade 11 student at R. H. King Academy, and Victor Jiang, a Grade 11 student at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute, who have been elected as Student Trustees for next school year! Read the full announcement.

 

Reminders

Travelling for March Break? Don’t Forget Your Measles Vaccine – Measles continues to circulate around the world. In Toronto, most measles cases are travel related. With March Break approaching, Toronto Public Health encourages families to stay up to date with their routine vaccines, including the measles vaccine. Special Education and Inclusion Parent Engagement Winter Session – Virtual sessions will be held on March 5 and 6 to share what supports and services are in place in both the TDSB and externally Post-21 for students with special needs and disabilities. These sessions will be recorded and posted on the TDSB website for future access. View the flyer to register.

Special Education and Inclusion Drop-in Sessions – Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Services will host two virtual question and answer sessions this month: March 18 and 20. Calendar of Drop-In Sessions.
