Welcome to TDSB Connects, an update on news and events from across the Toronto District School Board.

TDSBcares: Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal As the war in Ukraine continues and the resulting humanitarian crisis worsens each day, the TDSB is launching the TDSBcares: Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal to support the Canadian Red Cross and UNICEF in their ongoing efforts to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to those impacted. 2022-2023 School Year Calendar – The Ministry of Education has approved the TDSB’s 2022-2023 School Year Calendar. The first day of classes for students will be Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Please note, September 6 has been designated as a Professional Development day. Visit the TDSB website, for the full list of key dates, including PA and holidays.

Fundraising Milestone for Terry Fox Run – Every year across the TDSB, thousands of students participate in the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. We are proud to have reached an incredible fundraising milestone of $14,000,000, recognized by The Terry Fox Foundation! Learn more.

Mental Health and Well-Being – Next week, TDSB recognizes the annual Children’s Mental Health Week. Supporting students’ mental health and well-being is our priority. We are here to help with anything you need to support your mental health and well-being and to help you navigate the tools and resources you may need.

Join the Conversation – Join us on May 19 for a presentation on Nurturing Children’s Gender and Identity. Hear the personal journey of Vivek Shraya and learn how parents and caregivers, teachers and staff can be better allies. Learn more.

Education Week – Next week the TDSB recognizes Education Week, an opportunity for us to celebrate excellence in education and highlight students and staff. Follow along each day as we profile amazing work in equity, mental health and well-being and supporting student success. 

Heritage Months – In April, the TDSB recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month, Latin-America History Month and Sikh Heritage Month.

Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement - It is finally here! Join us for the grand opening of the Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement. The event takes place on June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants can engage virtually or in-person at Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute. More details and opportunities for registration will be available soon. TTC 100th Anniversary ContestStudents can share their ideas about the next 100 years of transit in Toronto to win. Barrier-free employment resource centre in Scarborough - Did you know Community Services operates a free employment resource centre in Scarborough?
