Humewood Community School

Humewood Community School is located north of St. Clair Ave. and west of Christie St. at 15 Cherrywood Ave. The original school building was erected in 1914, but it was replaced in 1972. Through our school theme, 'Building our Community', we continue to develop partnerships with home and the community.

The school serves over 480 children who come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Many speak languages other than English or French.

  • Humewood Community School opens at 7:30 a.m. and has a Day Care and a Before/After Care Program. The school is permitted for activities that serve both the adults and children in the community.
  • Within the main library is a networked computer lab that is available for students and teachers.

This year we are pleased to welcome 5 Full Day Kindergarten classes, 3 English and 2 French Immersion SK, as well as our very first French Immersion Grade 7 classes!  We are growing!

Our entire school was newly renovated in the summer of 2011, providing us with skylights, wireless internet access, new Science and Art rooms, a wood working shop, and SMARTBoards in various classrooms.

This year we have 3 brand new mobile laptop carts that travel between classrooms allowing our students the opportunity to further enhance and develop their writing and media literacy skills.

Our Mission
To enable all students to reach high levels of achievement and well-being
and to acquire the knowledge, skills
