The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

We would like to send a warm welcome to all our international students coming to study at the Toronto District School Board for the September 2020 intake. Prior to your arrival in Toronto, please review the following important information.

Elementary Students (Grade K - 8)

Reporting: Parent/Custodian and student report to International Students and Admissions Office with the following documents:

  • Study Permit (copy only)
  • Passport (copy only)
  • Notarized Custodian Documents (2 copies)
  • Proof of address of Custodian/Parent (two pieces)
    • Lease agreement or Property Tax bill
      AND
    • Current utility bill (Hydro, Water, Gas or Cable), home telephone bill or bank statement
  • Missing documents listed in the Official Letter of Acceptance Package (copy only)
  • Completed Newcomer Profile Form (2 copies)
  • Immunization Record (copy only)

Registration: Upon completion of the reporting process the Custodian/Parent will receive a registration package to bring to the designated school.

Orientation: An information session where additional details about the TDSB and the International Student Program will be available. All custodians of new students are required to participate.

Secondary Students (Grade 9 - 12)

The above reporting schedule is intended only for those international students who are unable to report to the summer school as scheduled. Reporting: Parent/Custodian and student report to International Students and Admissions Office with the following documents:

  • Study Permit (copy only)
  • Passport (copy only)
  • Notarized Custodian Documents (2 copies)
  • Missing documents listed in the Official Letter of Acceptance Package (copy only)
  • Completed Newcomer Profile Form (2 copies)
  • Most recent school report cards / transcripts (copy only)
  • Immunization Record (copy only)

Assessment: After the reporting process the student will receive a package that will be taken with them to the assessment centre. Student will complete an assessment (ESL and Math) at one of the TDSB Reception Centres.

Registration: Upon completion of the assessment, the Custodian/Parent and Student will take the results to their designated school to select their courses and complete their registration. Please call the school to make an appointment first.

Orientation: An information session where additional details about the TDSB and the International Student Program will be available. All custodians of new students are required to attend the session.
