 | The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is first and foremost an educator of children and youth. It is our duty, with the support of families and the community, to provide our students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities they need to reach their maximum potential, now and throughout their lives. We take that responsibility seriously. We are the largest publicly-funded school board in Canada, and one of the largest in North America. As of October 2011 - We have 591 schools
- We have approximately 260,000 students
- The Continuing Education department supports student achievement and lifelong learning with delivery to approximately 197,000 students.
- We have about 10,100 elementary and 5,900 secondary teachers as part of our 33,000 full-time and 8,000 part time staff
We serve an incredibly diverse community - Our student body speaks 80+ languages
- 53% of TDSB students have a language other than English as their mother tongue or as the primary language spoken at home
- Approximately 26% of our students were born outside of Canada
- About 17% of our students receive some Special Education support
Our students achieve success - More than 40% of our graduates annually rank as Ontario Scholars by achieving an average of at least 80% in their top six courses
- Around 90% of our graduates apply for university or college admission
- More than 75% of all students entering Grade 9 will graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with in five years.
