On April 30, Eastview Public School recieved some very exciting news! They were announced as a 2024 Field of Dreams grant recipient through the Jays Care Foundation. Through the grant, Eastview PS will receive $84,000 to create a safe and inclusive baseball diamond for the school and wider community.
The funds will be put toward the creation of a first class baseball diamond (dugouts, baseline fences, grandstand, red clay infield and bleachers), an accessibility ramp, and drainage in the outfield to prevent flooding. Construction on the new diamond is expected to begin in early July.
Field Of Dreams, made possible by TD, is Jays Care's granting program that provides funding to design, refurbish and build local baseball diamonds in communities across the country. Field Of Dreams diamonds are created to be spaces where communities can connect, and kids can grow.
Staff, students and community members gathered at the Eastview PS gym on April 30 to watch the announcement – which was a surprise for many – live on Sportsnet.
