Questions and Answers

What can I expect for September?
As we look ahead to September, we know that school will look quite different as a result of continued efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. We have been planning for our return considering all possibilities ensuring that student and staff well-being and safety is the priority. We are currently planning for three possible scenarios as outlined by the Ministry of Education, with the final direction coming from both the Ministry and Toronto Public Health in August.

What measures are you putting in place to ensure the health and safety of staff and students?
The health and safety of our students and staff is priority. We will be following all guidelines as directed by Toronto Public Health including physical distancing, hand washing protocols, and practicing and teaching respiratory etiquette. Signage will be used both inside and outside of schools to demonstrate physical distancing and flow of traffic through schools. More details about specific measures and practices that have been implemented will be shared with school communities prior to the return to work and school

How do I share my thoughts on reopening?
To help inform our reopening plans, we are asking our communities to share their thoughts through surveys:

These surveys close on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

I am concerned about the safety of my child. Do I have to send them to school?
According to the Ministry of Education, the return to school in the fall of 2020-21 will be voluntary and based on parent choice. For parents who choose not to send their child back to school, school boards should be prepared to offer remote education. This requirement will be in place for as long as public health circumstances require adapted delivery of education.
