Good afternoon,

It is with great pleasure that I inform you that on Wednesday, 15 July 2020 the Board approved the appointment of Maia Puccetti as Executive Officer, Facilities and Planning. Maia joins the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) on 5 October 2020. Steve Shaw, our current Executive Officer, Facilities and Planning, has agreed to continue to support the Facilities and Planning Departments until Maia assumes her new role and to also provide support to ensure a seamless transition.

Maia comes to the TDSB from her position as Superintendent of Facility Services and Planning at the Halton District School Board. Earlier in her career, she served as part of the Senior Leadership Team at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) where she was Acting Associate Director of Planning, Facilities and Stewardship, having previously been Superintendent of Facilities Services at TCDSB.

Deeply committed to equity and social justice, Maia has worked in community housing both in Toronto and Montreal earlier in her career. Her professional practice is marked by her passion for creating inclusive and innovative learning environments designed to provide the best possible contexts for the students and families of richly diverse communities.

Maia is ready for the challenge of leading the Facilities and Planning Departments of Canada’s largest District School Board as TDSB identifies and implements ways to bring its 247,000 students in its 583 schools back to the classroom this fall. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will allow her to work with corporate and academic colleagues to continue and expand on the TDSB’s deep and pervasive commitment to service excellence.

Maia possesses a Master of Architecture degree as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design, both from Dalhousie University. Maia is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and the Ontario Association of School Business Officials (OASBO).

Join me in welcoming Maia to the TDSB.

Thank you,

Craig Snider
