Building on the success of last year, students from across the Toronto District School Board were once again able to vote online to elect their Student Trustees. Students were also able to learn more about the candidates via online campaign videos before casting their votes. This new, modern way of running student elections resulted in an increase in the number of students interested in the positions (32) and, on voting day, the number of students who voted doubled in comparison to last year – from about 1400 to just over 3000!

Congratulations to our new Student Trustees:

  • Firdaus Shallo
    C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute
  • Mays Abusaifan
    L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute

We are also pleased to congratulate Clarity Smoke from Monarch Park C.I., who is the first-ever Indigenous Student Trustee for the Toronto District School Board. Clarity has been extended for a second term by the Toronto Indigenous Youth Council.

Firdaus and Mays will join Clarity as Student Trustees for the 2020-21 school year.

Congratulations to all Student Trustees!

Elections for Student Senate Executives will be held in the fall.
