On October 11, 2018, over 300 girls in Grades 3-6 gathered for our annual Young Women On the Move event for International Day of the Girl. The theme for this year’s event was: Calling all (S)heroes: Unleash Your Power. Each young girl had the opportunity to listen to our guest speaker, Shelley Ann Brown, Canadian Olympic Medalist who inspired the girls to tackle all issues in their life with a superhero attitude.

The girls also participated in a variety of activities that focused on their inner (s)heroes by uncovering their inner strengths. Each girl left with a superhero cape, which they created to remind them that they are caring, confident and courageous young (s)heroes who can overcome all challenges, barriers and obstacles in their own lives. As Young Women on the Move, we are committed to work alongside all girls to expand existing learning opportunities, chart new pathways and prepare them for a successful transition in to the world of work.

The event was sponsored by the Toronto District School Board and Johnson Insurance.
