2013 APPLICATION PROCESS

2013 TEACHER RECRUITMENT PROCESS - Elementary Contract and Occasional Teacher Applicants
The Toronto District School Board invites applications from interested candidates for September 2013 Elementary Teaching positions. Applicants are required to apply online using our electronic application process. We will be accepting new applications for September 2013 starting on January 7, 2013.

Applications are welcomed at all times. THERE IS NO DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS. Applicants are advised to apply in the months of January & February in order to be considered for early scheduling of interviews.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY ONLINE AS A "NEW USER" and provide the necessary documents outlined on the checklist. ONLY ONE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED per applicant for each calendar year. All completed applications will remain active in the Elementary and Secondary Teaching Offices for the period of one year.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Only completed application packages will be considered. Applications are not accepted by FAX.

The following documents are required as part of a complete application package. A completed application includes:

  • Online application form
  • Cover Letter addressed to the attention of:
    • Jean Shaw – Senior Manager, Elementary Teaching Office
    • Andrew Gold – Senior Manager, Secondary Teaching Office (if applying to Secondary also)
  • Résume (maximum 2 pages)
  • Copy of Certificate of Qualification *
  • Copies of practice teaching reports (faculty students) OR
    teacher evaluation reports (experienced teachers)
  • Reference letters (optional)

* Faculty of Education students must provide a copy of certification upon graduation. Please contact the Ontario College of Teachers, 101 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario M5S 0A1, 416-961-8800, if further information is required regarding certification.

All documents can be uploaded and submitted through our website. ONLY DOCUMENTS IN PDF OR RICH TEXT FORMAT CAN BE UPLOADED. If you are unable to upload your supporting documents (Certificate of Qualification, practice teaching or teacher evaluation reports and reference letters) please mail them to:

Note about the online application form: The form will expire within 48 hours if it has not been submitted. Once submitted, you can make changes to the application if you wish (you will need your applicant ID number and password).

NOTES:

  1. WE APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW ALL APPLICATIONS; HOWEVER, DUE TO THE VOLUME, ONLY APPLICANTS SELECTED TO BE INTERVIEWED WILL BE CONTACTED.
  2. FOR ELEMENTARY CANDIDATES ONLY, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT CARD CONFIRMING RECEIPT OF YOUR MAILED MATERIALS. (CARDS WILL BE MAILED AT THE END OF THE MONTH IN WHICH MATERIALS ARE RECEIVED & PROCESSED). We do not provide confirmation of application package by phone.
  3. CANDIDATES WHO ARE VISUALLY OR HEARING IMPAIRED WILL BE PROVIDED WITH ASSISTANCE (IF REQUIRED) IN COMPLETING THE APPLICATION PROCESS. ACCOMMODATION WILL ALSO BE MADE DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.

AFTER YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED:
Only selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Selection for an interview is based on the applicant’s package in reference to the TDSB system needs for the school year. High need program areas are: French Immersion, Music and Native Language Instruction teachers. Interviews will commence in March 2013.
