Elementary Schools

Elementary schools provide Kindergarten programs (for children aged 4 and 5) and programs for Grades 1 through to Grade 8.

Elementaryschool placement for our Toronto International Student Programs islimited to school availability. The TDSB will make every attempt tofind a school close to where the student will be living in Toronto.

Secondary Schools

Secondary schools offer programs from Grade 9through to Grade 12. To receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma,students need to complete at least 30 credits in secondary school (onecredit is normally one course). Students planning to attend universitycan include the required six preparation courses in their senior levelof studies to meet university entrance requirements.

Many TDSBsecondary schools now accept international students. Students mayindicate their preferences for three schools on the application form.Placement depends on space and programming. We do reserve the right tomake the final decision regarding the student's placement. If nopreference is indicated, the student will be placed in the mostappropriate school.

Universities/colleges will look for evidence of successful studies in the major field in which the student applies. All English-language universities in Canada require high levels of proficiency in English. In choosing a program, students should have in mind their educational plan.
