Essential Skills Upgrading

Essential Skills Upgrading Program

Essential Skills Upgrading is a non-credit, adult program that helps clients improve their reading, writing, and math skills, as well as their employability and workplace skills

The program is for individuals who:

  • speak English
  • want to upgrade their skills to prepare for high school, college, apprenticeship or certificate programs or employment
  • are goal-oriented and want to gain self confidence

The program is available in many locations across the city and runs September to June, Monday to Friday on a full-time or part-time basis, during the day or in the evening.

To get started, call to attend an information session. Then, meet with an assessor to discuss your goals and needs, complete an assessment and develop a learning plan based on your goals.

This program is funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development and Employment Ontario. The TDSB works with other literacy providers through the Local Literacy Council, Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy, to ensure that members of all communities have access to literacy training.
