TDSB Accredited Additional Qualifications Courses

The Toronto District School Board is pleased to be an approved provider of Additional Qualification (AQ) courses in Music and Science and Technology. These courses are accredited with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Additional Qualification courses allow teachers to expand their knowledge and skills within divisions and/or subjects in which they are already qualified or to acquire knowledge in new areas. Visit the Ontario College of Teachers for a complete list of courses and additional information.

The TDSB currently offers the following additional qualification courses:

Media Studies

Learn to integrate critical thinking about pop culture, social and informational media, and digital technologies into Secondary English and Grades K-8 cross-curricula. Explore how production (image, video, audio, GAFE) can enhance and support media literacy skills.

Music

Music - Vocal: (Primary, Junior) Part 1 provides teachers with a foundation of knowledge and skills as they relate to vocal music. it is an introductory course focusing on the theory and practice of vocal music education.

Music - Vocal: (Primary, Junior) Part 2 extends and reinforces the knowledge and skills learned in Part 1.  Learners will continue to explore the use of curriculum documents, teaching pedagogy and resources to increase their understanding of child development and instructional skill. Theory, discussion and application of effective teaching practices culminate in a practical teaching project.

Fall/Winter Sessions begin September 2017.
