Our School Improvement Plan
Literacy
We prepare students for the province-wide, mandatory literacy test by promoting literacy in all of our subjects. For students who want more academic challenge, we offer English at the Pre-AP level in grade 11, and an AP course in Grade 12. Jarvis students who love to write contribute to our yearbook, and perform in our Coffee House and drama productions. Students who need extra support can take an after-school literacy program.
Numeracy
We also help you prepare for the Grade 9 province-wide math test by promoting numeracy in all subjects. For students who want more enrichment, we offer Math at the Pre-AP level in Grade 11 Functions, and the AP level in Grade 12 Calculus. We offer many opportunities to compete in national Math competitions. For students who need extra support, we provide an after-school numeracy program.
Pathways
At Jarvis we support students progressing through all pathways in education including university, college, apprenticeship, and the workplace.
Community, Culture & Caring
Jarvis students and their parents particpate in the Jarvis Caring and Safe Schools Committee, working together to facilitate on-going campaigns to promote Bullying Awareness, Anti-Homophobia, Conflict Resolution, Healthy Relationships Building and overall safe and respectful community interaction.
