Google Translate Limitations Disclaimer

The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

The Toronto District School Board is committed to equity and community engagement, and by providing this tool, we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English.

Primary Class Size

In 2007 the Ministry of Education implemented a "hard cap" on the size of primary class sizes. The TDSB submits a report to the Ministry each year [hyperlink] to confirm that:

  • 90% of primary classes have 20 students or less;
  • 100% of primary classes have 23 students or less; and,
  • 24 is the average junior/intermediate class size.

Full Day Kindergarten

Full Day Kindergarten started in 71 schools throughout the TDSB in 2010 and by September 2012 a total of 190 schools offered the program.

Special Education Programs and Services

Special Education Programs and Services helps enable all students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire the knowledge, skills, and values they need to become responsible members of a democratic society. A wide range of special education supports and services are available to students and their families through their local school. The range and type of support is determined by the level of strengths and needs of the student.

In 2012, the TDSB renewed its commitment to inclusion in our schools. By 2014 our vision is that students with varying abilities are working and learning together, supporting each other and valuing everyone's contribution in a more inclusive environment. Four town hall meetings were held across the city in the fall to hear directly from parents and guardians and to inform the strategy that will support this vision.
