Glen Ames Senior Public School

School History

Alfred Ernest Ames (1866 – 1934) was the wealthy owner of the Glen Ames estate on Glen Stewart until his death in 1934. He was an investment dealer and established A.E. Ames Co. He was also President of the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Toronto Board of Trade. An important member of the Toronto business community, he built one of the oldest and most prominent investment houses in Canada.
