October 22 is Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day!

On October 22, the Toronto District School Board celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. This important day celebrates the hard work, dedication and professionalism of Child Care Workers & Early Childhood Educators who support the healthy development and well-being of young children their families. This important work aligns with the board’s P. 022 Early Learning and Care Policy, and the understanding that “the early years of a child’s life have a profound and enduring impact on their future learning and development”.

Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day is celebrated annually in October, and is proclaimed by school boards and municipalities, as well as the College of Early Childhood Educators, which is the professional body that regulates and governs Early Childhood Educators in Ontario. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day which recognizes the valuable contributions of these early years professionals. This year’s theme of Rising Up! is reflective of the amazing commitment of Child Care Workers & Early Childhood Educators who support children, families and communities each and every day.

The Toronto District School Board has over 1,500 Early Childhood Educators supporting quality early years experiences and student success in our Full-Day Kindergarten classrooms, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, Extended Day Programs and community led school-based Child Care programs.
