The Toronto District School Board is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the Trustee vacancies in Ward 2 (Etobicoke Centre) and Ward 9 (Davenport). These individuals will serve a term of approximately three months, ending on November 30, 2018. We invite applicants to follow the instructions below to be considered by the Toronto District School Board.

Please note that an elected Trustee will assume the role, in each Ward, as a result of the Municipal Election on October 22, 2018. This will be a four-year term, from December 1, 2018 to November 14, 2022.

The following documents are mandatory to be considered for the Application Process.

  1. Declaration of Qualifications – download the Declaration of Qualifications form for Ward 2 (Etobicoke Centre) or Ward 9 (Davenport). You must complete this form and have it authorized by a Commissioner of Oaths.
    Commissioner of Oaths Definition: A formal appointment or commission, governments give to individuals empowering them to certify the oath of another upon document.

    To find a Commissioner of Oaths, you can:
    • Contact your Councillor: Councillors are commissioners for taking affidavits by virtue of their office. It is entirely at the discretion of a Councillor whether or not they wish to commission documents.
    • Contact 211Toronto: Enter “commissioner of oaths” in the search field to find a list of agencies that provide this service or dial 211.
    • Contact Directory Assistance: Dial 411.
    • Search the web: Enter “Commissioners for Taking Affidavits in Toronto” in the search field of your web browser.
  2. Letter of Intent – submit a letter of intent, including the following:
    1. Interest in becoming a trustee in Ward 2 (Etobicoke Centre) or Ward 9 (Davenport)
    2. Demonstrated passion for publicly funded education
    3. Understanding of trustee responsibilities
    4. Evidence of a sense of accountability for use of public resources
    5. Connection to the communities in the Ward of Davenport or the Ward of Etobicoke Centre
    6. Knowledge of key TDSB education priorities, including the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, student achievement, equity, and well-being
    7. Understanding and acceptance of time commitment for trustee responsibilities
  3. Standard resume to be submitted, including the following:
    1. Address and contact information
    2. Work experience
    3. Community involvement, especially with families, children and youth
    4. Education system or public policy related experience

Original paper copies of these three documents must be provided to the TDSB office located on the first floor at 5050 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, on or before the deadline. Please note that the office is open 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The application deadline is July 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

Only those candidates invited for an interview will be contacted by the Board or its representatives. The successful candidates will be appointed at a meeting of the Board in August, 2018.
