William J McCordic School student learns to buildThis year, students at William J. McCordic School participated in an innovative Adaptive STEM initiative designed to provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for all learners. Through carefully scaffolded, accommodated and modified experiences, students developed practical STEM and life skills while building authentic projects that will remain a lasting part of the school community.

Students earned Safety Certifications demonstrating proficiency in the safe use of adaptive tools, including hammers, screwdrivers, clamps and specialized grip aids. They applied these skills through planning, measuring, constructing, painting, problem-solving and installation tasks while strengthening teamwork, communication, independence and perseverance.

A highlight of the initiative was a whole-school STEM carousel that brought together students, staff, educational assistants and community partners in a celebration of learning, inclusion and achievement. The project showcases what is possible when barriers are removed, supports are thoughtfully designed, and every student is provided with opportunities to contribute, create and succeed.

This initiative is a powerful example of William J. McCordic's commitment to ensuring that every student can experience the pride, confidence and joy that come from meaningful, authentic learning and truly embodying our motto: Every Ability, Every Possibility.
