Portuguese‑Speaking Heritage Month is recognized each June at the Toronto District School Board, aligning with the Province of Ontario’s Celebration of Portuguese Heritage Act, passed in 2001.
This year’s theme, Feel the Rhythm, Share the Culture, reflects the central role of music and celebration in Portuguese‑speaking cultures, where dance, performance, and song bring communities together.
Students, staff, and community members are invited to attend the annual Portuguese Parade on June 13. This vibrant event celebrates Portuguese‑speaking heritage and honours the legacy of Luís de Camões.
Those interested in participating can meet at 9 a.m. on Oakwood Avenue, north of St. Clair Avenue West. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 12 p.m.
