Students from Brown Junior Public School and Sistema Toronto at Parkdale Junior Public School have each earned a place in the national Top 10 of the CBC Music Class Challenge, powered by MusiCounts.
In the Kindergarten to Grade 4 category, students from Brown JPS delivered a moving performance of Mitêh (meaning “heart”), written by Sherryl Sewepagaham. In the Grades 5–8 category, the Sistema Parkdale Singers brought the same piece to life — adding their own Junkunu-inspired Jamaican drumming rhythms to create a vibrant, cross-cultural soundscape that reflects the diversity of their community.
