IGNITE is a student-run club that begins each school year with interviews and auditions in September. Following months of planning, rehearsals and creative development, this year’s production culminated in a two-hour whole-school showcase held on Friday, December 5, 2025, in the school’s cafetorium.

The production celebrated a wide range of artistic expression, featuring dance performances, a student fashion show, vocal performances, solo and duo musicians, and a live band. A total of 56 students successfully auditioned and participated, highlighting the depth of artistic talent and leadership within the Don Mills CI community. Of these students, 23 performed or modeled on stage, while the remaining 33 contributed behind the scenes in essential roles, including stage crew, technical production (sound and lighting), media and publicity, photography and videography, promotions, fashion design, and hair and makeup.

Beyond showcasing the arts, IGNITE also focused on giving back. Student Directors selected the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) VAST Youth Program as this year’s charity partner. VAST supports young people navigating challenges related to vaping, alcohol use, substance use and technology.

One hundred percent of ticket sales, along with additional donations, were directed to the CAMH VAST Youth Program. Through their collective efforts, students raised an impressive total of $2,987.30.

The success of IGNITE reflects the dedication and commitment of students who spent many hours rehearsing and preparing for the show. Their hard work not only resulted in a memorable performance but also made a meaningful contribution to supporting youth mental health and well-being.

Special thanks to Andrea Simpson, Don Mills CI teacher and staff advisor, for her guidance and support in helping bring this student-led production to life.
