Morse Street PS Makes History with Record-Breaking Terry Fox Fundraising

Categories: News

Morse Street Public School recently marked an extraordinary milestone during its Terry Fox Honorary Cheque Presentation Assembly. The celebration recognized months of dedication, generosity and community spirit shown by students, staff, families and community partners in support of cancer research.

In honour of the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, the Morse Street PS community set an ambitious fundraising goal of $45,000. Through collective determination and compassion, that goal was not only met but exceeded by more than $10,000, with an incredible total of $55,740.66 raised in September and October.

To help mark this milestone, Lisa Armstrong, Director of School Run Operations at the Terry Fox Foundation, joined the school for a school-wide assembly. She presented Morse Street PS with an official honorary cheque and recognized the impact of the community’s remarkable efforts.

This outstanding achievement places Morse Street PS in the record books as the highest-fundraising school in TDSB history for the Terry Fox School Run, across elementary, middle and secondary schools. The school is also currently ranked second in Canada among all participating schools for the 2024–25 fundraising year.

Thank you to the students, staffs and families of Morse PS who contributed to this year’s fundraiser. Their generosity and enthusiasm truly reflect the spirit of Terry Fox and show what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose.
