Don Mills Collegiate Institute recently had the privilege of hosting the Special Olympics Basketball Championship. The event was brought to life by the school’s Grade 12 Leadership class, led by Ms. Kirk, who devoted countless hours to planning, preparing and creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. From cheerful signs and welcome packages to a Santa Claus photo station, scorekeeping and heartfelt interactions, the students ensured every participant felt celebrated and included. Their dedication was warmly recognized by staff and students from across the TDSB.
Adding to the day’s spirit, the Music class performed a beautiful rendition of O Canada during the opening ceremony, setting a meaningful and uplifting tone for the tournament.
The event was a shining example of what happens when leadership, inclusivity and community come together. Don Mills CI students showcased the impact of genuine connection and teamwork, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.
