Heydon Park Welcomes Global Leaders for Best Buddies Assembly

Categories: News

On Friday, June 6, Heydon Park Secondary School hosted a powerful Best Buddies assembly featuring two inspiring guests: Anthony K. Shriver, Founder of Best Buddies, and Madison Tevlin, actor, Global Ambassador, and advocate for inclusion.

Joined by Heydon Park students who shared their own Best Buddies experiences, the event highlighted the importance of friendship, leadership, and belonging for individuals with disabilities.

“People with special needs have unlimited talent... and nobody needs to be fixed, they need to be supported,” said Mr. Shriver, as he encouraged students to see the strength in inclusion. Madison echoed this message, sharing, "We all have something to offer, and Best Buddies has shown me amazing things happen when you embrace inclusivity.”

The assembly reflected TDSB’s commitment to inclusive schools, student voice, and mental well-being—creating space for every learner to feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.
