Mayor Olivia Chow was an honorary guest speaker at York Memorial’s Heritage Fair, an initiative led by students that aims to promote participation in social studies courses, including Canadian History and Geography, while celebrating the rich heritage of our city.
The event included displays of student projects, highlighting their heritage and the importance of how Canadian Geography and History can relate to students and their educational journey.
The event was coordinated by Social Studies and Geography Curriculum Leader Deva Lenart, and also hosted special guests Dave Watkins, former George Harvey CI History Teacher and recipient of the Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History and TDSB Chair of the Board Rachel Chernos Lin.
