Louise Sirisko has been appointed as the TDSB’s new Associate Director of Instructional Innovation and Equitable Outcomes.
With 33 years in education, Louise brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the TDSB, previously serving as Director of Education of the York Region District School Board, the Director of the Special Education/Success for All Branch at the Ontario Ministry of Education and as a member of the Executive of the Council of Ontario Directors of Education. She began her education career with Peel District School Board as an elementary school teacher and has held other positions, including Vice-Principal, Principal, Superintendent of Education and Superintendent of Special Education.
Louise demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, anti-oppression and human rights. She has a proven track record of building positive relationships with students, families and staff to advance student achievement, well-being and to close disproportionate student outcomes. In her role as Director of Education, Louise and the team worked alongside leaders in York Region’s Black communities to develop the Dismantling Anti-Black Racism Strategy and led the creation of a series of system-wide enhancements to enable equitable outcomes for all students including mandatory incident reporting and tracking. She partners closely with community members to align priorities and nurture collaboration. She is passionate in her work to answer the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action for Indigenous peoples. Throughout her career, Louise has also championed supports for students with special education needs so they experience equitable access to learning in inclusive learning environments and has led provincial and board pilots and implementation of evidence-based reading intervention for students with severe learning disabilities.
