The Dance Teams from Newtonbrook Secondary School and SATEC @ W.A. Porter Collegiate Institute recently attended the Ontario Secondary School DanceFest (OSSDF) in Waterloo, joining more than 500 student dancers from 21 schools across the province for a celebration of creativity, collaboration, student leadership and artistic expression.
Throughout the festival, students from both schools had the opportunity to showcase their talent, dedication and passion for dance while building connections with peers from across Ontario. Through performances, workshops and shared experiences, dancers challenged themselves artistically, supported one another, and celebrated the power of movement and storytelling.
Both teams experienced significant success throughout the festival, earning multiple first- and second-place finishes, Awards of Excellence, and Overall Awards in recognition of their performances, choreography, artistry and technical achievement. Beyond the competition, OSSDF provided meaningful opportunities for students to grow as performers, leaders and collaborators while connecting with fellow dancers from across Ontario.
Both Dance Teams would like to thank the Ontario Secondary School DanceFest organizers, volunteers, adjudicators, and participating schools for creating such a welcoming and memorable experience.
Congratulations to all of the students, teachers and coaches, including Joanna Perlus and Tara Duffy, on their dedication, hard work and outstanding performances!
