With support from the Toronto Arts Council and the TDSB Arts Department, the tdsbCREATES program is connecting local artists with 53 elementary schools across the city this year. This ongoing board-wide initiative, extending from September to December 2023, remains dedicated to fostering creativity and exploration in various artistic realms, spanning visual arts, dance, drama, spoken word, film, music, and multidisciplinary arts.

The program places a strong emphasis on engaging in the creative process, celebrating student voices and powerful ideas, and fostering creativity for all. In addition, it provides opportunities for educators to collaborate and co-plan with artists around the theme of ‘Curiosity’ and explore pedagogical documentation of the creative process in their classrooms.

This unique program aligns with the TDSB's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals and underscores the power of collaboration between educational institutions and the vibrant arts community in Toronto. As the program unfolds, we can anticipate a wave of innovative and inspired young minds ready to embrace the world of creativity.

"tdsbCREATES is a beacon of innovation, bringing the magic of the arts directly into our classrooms,” shared Mary Moynihan, Program Coordinator for the TDSB Arts Department. “This initiative not only cultivates creativity but also fosters a sense of collaboration and expression that transcends traditional educational boundaries.”
