TDSB Recognizes World Mental Health Day

Categories: News

Caring for our mental health and well-being requires a holistic and community approach involving self-awareness and understanding how environmental stress affects our minds and bodies. This approach fosters an environment where staff and students can cultivate feelings of mattering and belonging. It also strengthens our circles of care, affirms our social identities, and encourages mentally healthy school and workplace environments.

On October 10, 2023 World Mental Health Day, it serves as a vital reminder to center mental health and well being. On this day, let us take proactive measures to integrate daily mental health resources into our lives, promoting and enhancing mentally healthy educational and professional spaces. The theme for 2023 World Mental Health Day is “Mental health is a universal human right,” which underscores the importance of collective efforts to advance our knowledge, raise awareness and take action to safeguard and improve the mental health and well-being of everyone.

On this 2023 World Mental Health Day, we encourage you to explore and implement some of the Daily Mental Health Resources curated by Professional Support Services (PSS) for students, parents/guardians/caregivers, and Staff Mental Health Resources. Recognizing that each person’s mental health journey is unique and influenced by various factors, including social inequities, we emphasize the importance of ongoing self-care, building positive mental health through integrating daily mental health activities, and reaching out for support when needed.

Your mental health well-being is a priority, and together, we can continually work towards fostering mentally healthier TDSB school and workplace communities.
