TDSB Partnership Helps Earn Recognition for Student Nutrition Program

Categories: News

The Toronto Public Health (TPH) Student Nutrition Program recently received a City Manager’s Award of Excellence in the Partnerships category, recognizing the successful collaboration between schools, community organizations, volunteers, and government partners to ensure students have access to nutritious food during the school day.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has played a key role in supporting the expansion and implementation of student nutrition programs in more than 100 schools across the city. Working closely with TPH, TDSB staff have helped coordinate funding applications, food safety infrastructure, volunteer recruitment and training, program planning, and community engagement efforts.

The partnership is strengthened through Student Nutrition Ontario – Toronto (SNO-T), a community advisory partnership, including the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, that brings together organizations committed to supporting student nutrition initiatives across Toronto.

By working together, these partners are helping ensure that children and youth have access to healthy food at school, providing an important foundation for learning, well-being, and academic success. The award recognizes the collective impact of this collaboration and the dedication of everyone involved in supporting students across Toronto.
