The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement is excited to share information on the 2026 Building Black Futures in Architecture Scholarship! Through the generous donations of our architecture partners, we will be offering two (2) scholarships valued at $48,000 each ($12,000 per year over 4 years) to two graduating Black students entering an architecture degree program.
The Building Black Futures in Architecture Scholarship recognizes two exceptional secondary school students who demonstrate both academic excellence and a genuine passion for architecture.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Black (African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Canadian, Afro-Indigenous, Afro-Latinx, Black Diaspora) graduating (Gr.12) TDSB student.
- Must have applied/been accepted to one of the following post-secondary institutions across Canada in their accredited architecture degree programs:
- Ontario: Carleton University; Laurentian University; Toronto Metropolitan University; University of Toronto or University of Waterloo.
- Alberta: University of Calgary.
- Manitoba: University of Manitoba.
- Nova Scotia: Dalhousie University.
- Quebec: McGill University; University of Laval or Universite de Montreal.

- Demonstrated leadership and involvement in school and/or community.
- Evidence of personal achievements, including overcoming adversity.
- Willing to meet scholarship maintenance requirements.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Resume
- Two reference letters
- Official transcript
- Portfolio or work samples (up to 3 items; digital accepted)
- A letter of interest (1,000 words max), responding to the following question: How have your life experiences shaped your passion for architecture/design, and how do you hope to contribute to others through your future work?
