Venus deMilo with tattoos, Salvador Dali reimagined with melting skateboards, The Scream rocking DJ headphones. This twisted art gallery was revealed at the Anomaly Toronto office earlier this month. In true Oasis Skateboard Factory fashion, these re-worked traditional art pieces were painted on the untraditional surface of skateboards, bursting out of gold frames with broken board details.
Proud parents and students mingled with ad executives, designers, internationally known artists and break dancers as they awaited the unveiling of OSF’s installation and bid on silent auction boards. The party celebrated the new partnership between the TDSB alternative school design program (OSF) and Anomaly Toronto, an award winning advertising firm. This exciting partnership has paired OSF students with marketing and design professionals who provide one-on-one mentorship, helping students develop amazing personal brands.
Students have also worked as a client for Anomaly as they created the massive skateboard art history installation in their flagship Toronto office. Students also had the opportunity to create collaborative skateboards with high profile artist Kevin Lyons, former designer for Girl Skateboards, Stussy, and Urban Outfitters who visited the OSF classroom to talk about working as an artist/designer and draw on decks.
